Class Picture at the Caves

Getting Ready to Move on to Fourth Grade

Before lunch today the students cleaned out their desks and lockers.  It was amazing to see all the different items that they had in their desks.  I'm amazed by how much some students can fit into such a small space.  It's hard to believe tomorrow is the last day of school.  Hopefully, we will have nice weather so the students can have fun going to different outdoor stations with their classmates.

Top Ten List

The students looked through our classroom blog and created a top ten list for third grade.  Some students chose to work by themselves and others worked with a partner in creating this list.  Most students created a slide show on Google Slides to present their top ten list.  Today second graders came to our classroom to learn more about third grade from our students.  They shared their slide shows with them and talked to them about what they will be asked to do in third grade next year. They did an amazing job teaching the second graders about third grade.  I put a few links below that will bring you to some of their top ten lists.  Zhane's top ten list is shown below the links.

School Store Results

The third grade school store was quite a success this year.  Below I listed the total amount the students made this school year and their expenses.  In the end we will finish the school year with a balance of $0.  This will allow the third graders next year to learn about debt and profit.  Thank you again for all of your support through this inaugural year of having a third grade school store.

The students made a total of $994.75.
They paid back the PTO $150 to lower this amount to $844.75.
The third graders spent a total of $319.00 for the admission to the caves and for part of the bus.  This brought their total down to $525.75.
They bought 50 headlamps for our trip for a total of $52.50.  This lowered their amount to $473.25.
The third graders spent $92 on food for the Evergreen Park field trip.  This lowered their amount farther down to $381.25.
They bought spare lego pieces for the lego robotics kits for $28.00.  This gave them a total of $353.25.
The third graders will be donating $353.25 to a group of people that will be building a universal playground at Evergreen Park next spring.  This park will allow people of all ages to play together whether they are disabled or not.  Mateo's parents have had this dream and through their perseverance are close to helping this park become a reality for our community.  This donation will bring the third graders'  total amount of money to $0.

Sam's 10th Birthday!

Sam celebrated his tenth birthday yesterday.  Last week he shared brownies with the class.  Happy Birthday, Sam!  Thank you for the birthday treat.  It was delicious.

Cave Trip

Today was our cave field trip to Ledgeview Nature Center in Chilton.  It was a fun experience.  The students and chaperones got plenty of opportunities to crawl through tunnels.  It was a wet and muddy experience for us all.  We had a terrific guide.  She taught us many things about the limestone caves we explored throughout the day.  It was a great way to spend our last Monday of the school year.  I will add more photographs to our blog as I receive them from some of the chaperones that came along with us on this field trip.   I would like to thank Sam's dad, Julian's dad and Brayden's mom for coming with our class to the caves and being willing to crawl through all of the muddy tunnels with us.
