Body Reports

A lot of the students have finished or are finishing up writing their paragraphs about their specific body part.  Many are now working on creating a web page or a slideshow via Google Slides for publishing their work.  They will add their paragraphs to these forms of publishing along with photographs, videos, etc.  Before we know it they will presenting their final reports to their classmates.  Below are the paragraphs written by Danica and Maddie.

A lot of people think blood is gross, but it’s actually quite interesting.  Blood is part of the Circulatory system. Blood travels in veins and arteries in a circle throughout your body.  Did you know that when your blood is pumped out by your heart it is red, but when it circles back to your heart it is blue.  That’s because when it comes out of your heart it has oxygen, but when it circles back it doesn’t have any oxygen anymore because your body used the oxygen for energy.

In blood there's red blood cells, white blood cells, platelets and plasma.  They each have important jobs to do. In blood there are not many white blood cells unless you are sick.  White blood cells help fight diseases.   Most of the cells in blood are red blood cells.  Red blood cells carry oxygen throughout your body. Platelets help stop bleeding by making blood clots.  Plasma is yellow gooey stuff that carries nutrients throughout your body.  Those were some jobs of the blood’s ingredients.
Here are some cool facts about blood.   Blood helps keep your body at the right temperature.  An average person is suppose to have 1 to 1 ½ gallons of blood.  Also, without blood you wouldn’t be able to stay warm or cool off.  Your blood is almost 90%  water.     That’s why blood is actually pretty interesting.
