Each student read a short pourquoi tale. They read one of four different stories. Then they filled out a story elements diagram. After filling out this diagram, they answered the following question: What makes a story a pourquoi tale? They used their completed diagram to answer this question.
Next week, they will meet with other classmates to tell them about the story they read. They will figure out how their story is similar to their peers' stories. Finally as a small group they will answer the question stated above and share their answer with the whole class.
