Roller Coaster Science

On Thursday the students spent the afternoon creating roller coasters out of foam tubing and tape.  They had to follow certain rules in making their roller coasters.  For example they had to include a loop, a hill, two chairs, two gym shoes, and a reading text books.  Also they were allowed to use three things of their choice in building their roller coasters.  Their goal was to have their marble land in a bucket at the end of its ride through all the twists and turns.  The biggest challenge for some groups was communicating with one another.  Hopefully, by the end of this learning activity, the students learned the value in listening to everyone's ideas and thoughts and respect each others feelings.
