The Beekeeper

During the past two days the students have read a book titled, "The Beekeeper".  This book goes along with our science unit which is based off of the plant life cycle.  As a class we are learning about the importance of pollinators such as bees and butterflies.  Tomorrow morning our class will be taking a walking field trip to visit a beekeeper/gardener in our neighborhood , so it will be important for your child to wear good walking shoes.  It should be a great learning experience.  Below are some questions about beekeepers that the students are working hard to find the answers to.

What is a beekeeper’s job?

What type of equipment do beekeepers use?

What are some different types of bees found in a hive?  Describe their jobs.

Explain the community found in the hive.

What are some different kinds of bees?

Explain pollination and how the bees help with this process.

How do beekeepers get the honey from inside a hive?

Create at least two different flow charts that go along with what you read about in this book.  Include the page number(s) from the book that you used to help you create your flow chart.
Make a table. Each heading should be a name of a type of bee that is part of a hive.  Write details about each type of bee below each heading.
