Make a copy of this page.
1. Write down the title of the story you are reading.
2. Read the story. Write down any questions that you have as you read this story.
3. Reread the story and write down any other questions that you have.
4. Write down the main character’s name. What are three inside traits that describe this character. Use examples from the story to prove that you are correct.
5. Find three words that you would like to know more about. Write down the word and the clues from the story that will help you figure out its meaning. Write experiences you have had with this word. Finally write a definition in your own words for this word. Look in a dictionary and check to see if your definition matches the dictionaries.
6. Make up three cause and effect sentences for your story. If you can find any cause/effect sentences directly in your story write them down.
7. Write down at least 5 verbs and 3 adjectives from the story you read that describe the main character.
8. Describe the setting. Include the time and place.
9. Write down the lesson(s) of the story. Explain why you know this is the lesson.
10. Find two opinions and two facts in your story. Write them down.
11. Write a paragraph sharing your point of view of the story you read. Include a main idea, supporting details, and a closing.
