Ways to Stay Healthy

This past weekend students worked on writing paragraphs about how to stay healthy.  I'm excited to share Sam's story with you.  He spent quite a bit of time working on this assignment during the weekend.  He even provided links to various sources that he used to acquire his information.  I love the last link he added to his document.

There are many things a person can do to stay healthy.  Eating the right foods, drinking enough water, getting enough sleep and exercising are just a few that I’ll talk about today. When you eat healthy you feel more Energetic. To eat healthy, you need lean protein, vegetables, dairy and complex carbohydrates.  Eating or drinking sugar does not help your Immune System.  These junk foods will get into the immune system and kill all of the white blood cells. This will make a body unhealthy.  Water is just as important as healthy eating.  Blood cells require millions of gallons of water through your life! So even though you might not feel thirsty, you still need to drink water.  It is recommended that a person should drink 8 8oz glasses of water a day!  Get enough sleep to stay healthy.  When your body sleeps it becomes more healthy. How? Well it goes through a lot of important information like processing what you saw or learned in school.  Sleep also helps your immune system. One more thing is that it gives your brain some time to rest after a long day learning in school.
Everyone feels better after a good night’s sleep!  My favorite way to stay healthy is to exercise.  Exercising adds years to your life, boost energy, improves your mood, strengthens the mind, increases your immune system, combats chronic disease and improves blood pressure.  Why wouldn’t a person exercise?  These are all great benefits of exercise!  Take these steps to keep your body healthy.
