The students are being asked to write their point of view on the following situation. The mayor of a city would like to unplug all televisions and get rid of all electronic devices in his city. He feels kids are becoming more unhealthy, uneducated, etc. because of spending to much time on their mobile devices or watching television. Your child is being asked to respond to the mayor's plan. Your child should include some facts in their paragraph to help prove his or her thinking. They should include a main idea, details and a closing.
As a class the students agreed to work on the following things in their writing this weekend:
1) Not to overuse the words,
reason and thing, in their writing.
2) Take their time writing their paragraph. They should spend at least 20 minutes working on this assignment. The students had a strong initial response to this mayor's request, so I know they have a lot to write about.
3) Have an adult or friend edit their writing with them.
4) Use strong words and
not the same old words like good, cool, etc.
