Fraction Problems

The following problems are fraction problems we worked on during part of our math time today.  We didn't completely finish these problems, so we will be continuing with them tomorrow.

Draw a picture, use fraction tiles, etc. to solve the following problem.  Elexus and Kylie are each putting tiles on a wall.  Each wall is the same size.  Elexus has ⅝ of her wall tiled.  Kylie has ¼ of her wall tiled.  Who has the greatest part of the wall tiled?  Who has the lesser part of the wall tiled?  Explain.

Write a multiplication sentence and a repeated addition sentence for the bouncy balls above.
⅓ of Allie’s bouncy balls are shown above.  How many bouncy balls does she have in all?
If ⅙ of all her bouncy balls are green, how many are green?

Joey ate ¾ of the pizza.  Julian ate ¼ of the same pizza.   Who ate more pizza?  Explain.  How much of the pizza did they eat together?

Allison had 2/8 of the carrot sticks.  Maddie has 2/6 of the carrots sticks.  Who had more carrot sticks.  Explain.  Can you figure out how much of the carrot sticks they ate together?
